Darkwave is the solo musical project of Hungarian composer and guitarist Zsolt Némethy.
Rooted in progressive and symphonic metal, its music combines heavy guitars, orchestral textures, church organ, neoclassical influences, and occasional excursions into more experimental territory with a strong conceptual and philosophical focus. Each album explores fundamental questions of human existence: loss and hope, mortality and meaning, faith and doubt, suffering and transcendence. Rather than turning away from darkness, Darkwave confronts it directly, searching for what remains when certainty, comfort, and illusion fall away. Ultimately, Darkwave is music for what remains — a search for what endures beyond loss, failure, and the passing of time.

Yet, I always knew that if I pursued this dream, I wanted to walk the path alone, on my own terms… Keep reading
“Némethy’s music is extremely peculiar, a kind of progressive with a few moments close to thrash, but also with countless references to other musical genres”

Hopefully, this will shed some light on my love for music and the countless influences that eventually led to the birth of Darkwave… Keep reading
